Sakura Flow Mixing Guide

At the end of 2019 Bayer launched Sakura Flow, the liquid version of their Sakura pre-emergent herbicide. With 2020 wheat sowing now underway, we are now seeing the first applications of Sakura Flow in pre-emergent spraying. So, with the first uses of this new product, we want to make sure you’re mixing it in right.

While Sakura Flow is a liquid version of the well-established Sakura WG product, it’s important to remember it is an SC (Suspension Concentrate) formulation. So, as with other SC’s, there are a few key points to keep in mind when mixing in order to get the best from the product.

Here is a refresher of what is recommended:

  • Always fill the tank with sufficient water (preferably 70% of the final volume) before beginning mixing.
  • Always observe the correct mixing order when mixing SC products with other products in a tank mix – click here to see Sakura mixing guide attached.
  • Always add Sakura Flow slowly to the spray tank or granule/chemical handler.
  • Always start agitation before adding Sakura Flow to the mix. Agitation should be kept on throughout the mixing process and then – in the spray tank – all the way through spraying.
  • Always allow sufficient time for Sakura Flow to disperse within the spray tank prior to adding any other tank mix products (approx. 10 minutes).
  • Ensure thorough rinsing/ cycling of water through the granule/chemical handler prior to the addition of the next product.
  • Use Spray mixes promptly and do not allow to stand unagitated for long periods.
  • Higher water volumes generally result in better compatibility.
  • Minimise the number of products in a mix in order to maximise compatibility
  • The more tank-mix partners added = more water needed for dispersion.
  • The more tank-mix partners added = more time required between adding products.
  • If unsure of compatibility, conduct a jar test with the same field ratios.
  • Do not “top-up” a part tank containing other products, by adding Sakura Flow. Completely empty the tank first and start with clean water.
