Many diseases require leaf wetness for infection, given our June rainfall and regularity of showers, it is imperative to familiarize yourselves with high risk crops; Sown onto infected stubbles (eg wheat on wheat, barley on barley, adjacent stubbles). Susceptible varieties. Early sown crops (particularly Black Spot). Monitor crops for growth stage, disease presence and risk. This allows timely application of fungicides (where available) to maximixe yield advantage. Rust identification reports are occuring in WA, NSW & Qld. Given our current conditions we will be monitoring the national rust status, to allow a level or preparedness is rust conditions do develop. Regards, Craig Davis |
